Job Description
The salary range for this position is $6,257.00
- 8,322.
Essential Personnel:
This position is considered to be an essential worker and may be required to work during non-business hours or closures in order to meet operational requirements and needs.WORKING CONDITIONS
Work Environment- Work is performed in an office environment and outdoors while doing site investigations. Investigations require working on rough terrain, in wetlands, and being in proximity to heavy equipment. Schedule
- Monday
- Friday, 8:00 a.m.
- 5:00 p.m. Workload demands may occasionally require work outside the assigned work hours. Travel Requirements
- Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings or trainings. Travel to worksites is required. Customer Interactions
- Daily interactions via phone, in-person, and video with Thurston County staff and the public.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with major course work in environmental studies, engineering, planning, geography, public administration or a related field that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position. A master's degree is preferred. Four years of experience that demonstrates complete knowledge of environmental permitting and regulatory requirements and to apply for and obtain such permits and approvals. Two years' experience as a supervisor or serving in a lead capacity. One year of professional level environmental review experience which includes responsibility for performing site inspections and giving information and assistance to the public. Ability to utilize the personal computer and related software packages to perform word processing, information retrieval and tracking. A valid Washington State Driver's License or the ability to obtain within six months of hire.DESIRED SKILLS
NPDES permit management experience with local, county, or state environmental work. Experience with Construction Stormwater Permits, compliance, training and reporting. Knowledge of State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA), shoreline requirements and environmental laws. Experience in wetland mitigation, salmon ecology, and stream rehabilitation/mitigation for fish habitat. Ability to read, interpret, and apply work related codes, ordinances, legal property descriptions, and other regulations and guidelines.OTHER RELATED RECRUITMENT INFORMATION
