Job Description

Pioneer Engineering & Environmental Services, LLC is seeking an entry-level to early career Environmental Field Technician, Geologist, or Environmental Scientist (0-3 years of experience) to join our Environmental Site Investigation, Engineering & Remediation Group in Chicago, Illinois . Pioneer is a growing environmental consulting firm specializing in environmental site investigations, environmental engineering and remediation, geotechnical engineering, and construction materials testing. We are looking for motivated individuals who enjoy working outdoors, solving technical challenges, and building a long-term career in environmental consulting. Entry-level candidates and recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Training and mentoring are provided, and compensation is competitive and based on education, experience, and qualifications. Position Responsibilities Perform soil, groundwater, and soil gas sampling for environmental investigations. Assist with environmental and geotechnical drilling investigations, including working alongside drill crews to collect soil and groundwater samples. Log and classify soil samples using accepted industry standards. Install, sample, survey, and perform slug testing of groundwater monitoring wells. Provide field oversight during underground storage tank (UST) removals. Monitor and document environmental remediation activities. Prepare accurate field notes, boring logs, and other field documentation. Assist with data management and preparation of technical reports. Travel to project sites throughout the Chicago metropolitan area and surrounding Midwest region as needed. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Geology, Environmental Science, Earth Science, Environmental Studies, Geography, Natural Resources, Civil Engineering, or a related scientific discipline. Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record. Authorized to work in the United States. Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Willingness to work occasional overtime, overnight travel, and weekends as project schedules require. Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work effectively as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications OSHA 40-Hour
HAZWOPER
certification (or willingness to obtain after hire). Previous environmental field, geotechnical, construction observation, or drilling experience. Familiarity with soil classification and field documentation. Experience with surveying, GPS equipment, GIS, or AutoCAD is a plus.
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
