Full Job Description Environmental Services Associate II Job Description Overview Position Qualifications and Requirements:
High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred. Requires 2 years of experience. Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, rubber-soled closed-toe footwear, etc.
Physical requirements to include:
reaching, standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more, up to 80% of the time. Requires the ability to operate light floor equipment for cleaning floors in patient care areas. Requires the ability to climb ladders. Requires the ability to clean areas that require technical cleaning including IR/Cardiac Cath/Mother-Baby/NICU/OR/ED, and has demonstrated competency to train and onboard others. Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) credentialing is preferred.
Position Details:
This position is Monday through Friday, no weekends or holidays. The standard hours are 8:00am until 4:30pm, but team member will need to be flexible to start as early as 7:00am. This position involves high volume interactions with specific clinical teams.
Work Locations:
IU Health Methodist Hospital, University Hospital, Riley Children's Hospital and IU Health Goodman Hall-Neuroscience Center.
Position Summary:
Specializes in the ability to perform advanced cleaning and disinfection within high-acuity clinical and procedural areas. Demonstrates technical skill, attention to infection prevention protocols, and the mentors and supports the training of others. Supports patient safety through consistent, high-quality service and serve as a resource to peers across Environmental Services and the care team. Performs advanced, high-acuity cleaning and terminal disinfection in complex clinical and procedural areas, including but not limited to the Operating Room (OR), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Department (ED), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and Isolation Rooms. Applies specialized disinfection protocols and utilizes advanced cleaning tools in accordance with infection control standards and hospital policy. Conducts hazardous and biohazardous waste removal in compliance with safety regulations and infection prevention protocols. Proactively communicates and collaborates with clinical teams to ensure cleaning processes support patient safety and care flow. Serves as a subject matter expert in environmental services operations and infection prevention; acts as a resource to peers and leadership. Participates in quality improvement initiatives to improve cleanliness, service reliability, and patient experience. We are an equal opportunity employer.
