Full Job Description Laboratory Technician Job Description Job Purpose:
Analysis of water and soil samples in laboratory environment; supports laboratory staff by maintaining glassware; maintaining logs and record books
Duties:
  • Determines characteristics or composition of solid, liquid, or gaseous materials and substances by conducting chemical, bacteriological, physical, and laboratory tests, using pH meter, chemicals, autoclaves, centrifuge, spectrophotometer, analytical instrumentation, and chemical laboratory equipment.
  • Assesses water pollutants by analyzing water samples from streams and lakes, raw, semi-processed or processed water, and industrial waste water.
  • Reproduces chemistry techniques by following Standardized Methods and standard operating procedures.
  • Enters laboratory results into a Laboratory Information Management System.
  • Maintains glassware by picking-up, cleaning, washing, sterilizing, and distributing.
  • Documents information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
