SUMMARY We are seeking an Environmental Technician (Entry-Level to Associate) with 0-3 years of experience in environmental consulting, environmental science, industrial hygiene, construction, or a related field. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. This position operates primarily out of our Jessup, Maryland Office; however, travel within Maryland and to Washington D.C. and Virginia will be required on a daily basis. The position ranges from 50% to 90% fieldwork. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working on a variety of job sites, being active, solving technical problems, and developing expertise across multiple environmental disciplines. No two days are the same, and you'll receive hands-on training from experienced professionals while working toward industry certifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of this position include the following: Perform hazardous building material surveys for asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, radon, PCBs, universal waste, and other environmental concerns. Conduct environmental audits throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Perform asbestos air monitoring and collect bulk, air, dust, water, and soil samples. Prepare daily field documentation and assist with technical report preparation. Coordinate with contractors, clients, laboratories, and project managers. Provide oversight of asbestos, lead, and mold abatement projects. Operate field instruments including XRF analyzers, moisture meters, air sampling equipment, and other environmental monitoring equipment. Perform activities in the presence of active asbestos or lead abatement that will require you to wear a respirator. Employees will have the opportunity to cross-train on a variety of other projects, including: Indoor Air Quality Investigations Mold Assessments Phase I Environmental Site Assessments Phase II Subsurface Investigations Property Condition Assessments Radon Testing Soil and Groundwater Testing and more! QUALIFICATIONS A
qualified candidate must exhibit the following: A minimum of an Associates Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Biology or a related discipline is required, a Bachelors Degree is preferred Ability to lift/carry 40
  • 100 lbs. multiple times a day Ability to wear a respirator. Please note that employment is conditional upon passing a respiratory medical evaluation and ability to wear a respirator. AEC may cease the hiring process if a candidate is unable to pass the medical evaluation Must be able to provide reliable transportation for daily commute to job sites
