Environmental Technician ECS Mid-Atlantic, LLC United States, York, Albany Sep 01, 2026 Responsibilities The Environmental Technician performs field-based environmental sampling, monitoring, and assessment activities in support of environmental consulting projects. This role develops foundational technical skills through hands-on fieldwork and supports project teams with data collection, documentation, and reporting. The Environmental Technician works under supervision while progressing toward independent field execution and demonstrating ECS Core Values. Responsibilities Performs and supports field sampling of various environmental media (soil, groundwater, air, etc.)

Works in both indoor and outdoor environments under varying site conditions

Communicates daily with technicians, project managers, and site personnel as directed

Attends project meetings with senior staff as requested

Assists with data collection, basic calculations, and documentation activities

Prepares clear and accurate daily field reports describing site activities and observations

Learns to calibrate, operate, and maintain field equipment

Assists with report production and basic office support tasks

Supports environmental assessments, including:

Asbestos-containing materials

Lead-based paint

Radon

Mold

Begins to support installation, operation, and maintenance of remediation equipment

Begins to learn the basics of remediation chemistry as well as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing principles

Obtains required certifications as assigned

Maintains organization and readiness of field equipment

Performs additional technical and support duties as assigned Qualifications Required Qualifications 0 years of related experience

High school diploma or GED required

Obtain basic certifications applicable to the work performed as per the ECS Technician Certification Policy

Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying site conditions

Ability to lift and carry field equipment (~40 lbs)

Very limited knowledge of environmental principles and testing methods (entry-level)

Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills

Good communication skills (verbal and written)

Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and in a team environment

Basic proficiency with electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops)

Ability to read and interpret maps, plans, and field instructions (developing)

Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented (developing)

Must have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all local and state laws, road/driving regulations, and company policies

If driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required Military Qualifications The following US Military ranks would qualify for this position:

E-4 The expected pay range for this role and location is $22-$25/hour. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
