Aseptic Cleaning Technician - 1st Shift Job Description The Aseptic Cleaning Technician supports a state-of-the-art cell manufacturing facility by performing routine cleaning and sanitation of cleanrooms and adjacent controlled spaces. This role follows strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) to help maintain a compliant, safe, and highly controlled environment that supports advanced therapy operations. The technician works closely with a small, collaborative team and interacts daily with the laboratory staff and digital tools to ensure the facility remains clean, organized, and inspection-ready. Responsibilities Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of cleanroom facilities and adjacent controlled spaces in accordance with established procedures. Strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies related to cleaning, conduct, and appropriate behavior in the cleanroom environment. Handle cleaning chemicals safely by correctly identifying chemicals, ensuring proper use and preparation, and following appropriate labeling and storage requirements. Maintain cleaning equipment, gowning materials, and supplies in designated storage areas and locker rooms to ensure readiness and organization. Adhere to facility gowning requirements, including fully gowning up for cleanroom entry, and demonstrate competence during annual gowning qualification. Observe Good Documentation Practices (GDP) when recording data on controlled documentation, ensuring accuracy, legibility, and completeness. Remain professional, work scheduled hours consistently, and complete all required training in a timely manner. Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and laboratory staff to coordinate cleaning activities and address any issues. Perform Environmental Monitoring (EM) of controlled spaces when required, following established protocols and documentation standards. Use email, Microsoft Teams, and training software on a daily basis to receive instructions, complete trainings, and document work. Support additional tasks and projects related to the Cleaning Operations team as assigned to meet operational needs. Contribute to a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement within the cleanroom and controlled environments. Essential Skills Prior aseptic cleaning or laboratory sanitation experience in a controlled or cleanroom environment. Demonstrated experience following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in a regulated or structured setting. Experience gowning up and entering cleanrooms, or strong ability and willingness to learn and perform full gowning procedures. Familiarity with working in GMP or GMP-like environments, with an understanding of cleanliness, contamination control, and compliance expectations. Ability to handle and prepare cleaning chemicals safely, including proper identification, labeling, and storage. Ability to follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP) when completing controlled records and logs. Comfort using email and computer-based programs, including collaboration and training software, on a daily basis. High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification. Ability to remain comfortable fully gowning up and working for extended periods in a cleanroom environment. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed instructions consistently. Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members and lab staff. Additional Skills & Qualifications GMP experience is a plus and will be considered favorably. Prior experience performing Environmental Monitoring (EM) in controlled environments is beneficial. Experience working in a laboratory or cell manufacturing setting is an advantage. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team while also managing individual responsibilities. Strong sense of ownership, reliability, and professionalism in a highly regulated environment. Work Environment The Aseptic Cleaning Technician works on a 1st shift schedule starting at 6:00 a.m., with a 30-minute meal break and an expected overtime commitment of approximately 5 hours per week. The role is part of a close-knit team of about seven people that partners closely with the laboratory team in a state-of-the-art cell manufacturing facility focused on advanced therapy work. The environment is highly controlled, with strict cleanroom and GMP-related standards. Team members regularly use email, Microsoft Teams, and training software to communicate and complete required trainings. The position requires full cleanroom gowning and adherence to gowning protocols whenever entering controlled spaces, and work is performed in a clean, regulated, and process-driven setting that emphasizes safety, precision, and compliance. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Columbus, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
