Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing the Infection Control Preventionist assumes the responsibility for the Infection Control Program of the facility. The position involves responsibilities in areas of case findings, surveillance, reporting, analysis, interpretation, inspection, control measures, education, consultation, evaluation and recommendations and training. Collaborates with all levels of nursing personnel as well as with facility consultants, physicians and department managers and other department employees in assessing needs for infection control prevention, control, implementation and management. Provides infection control program related education. Is responsible for the communities Infection Control protocols, tracking and prevention.

Competencies and skills:

Essential:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages

Credentials:

Essential:

Licensed Vocational Nurse
California Education with

Equivalent Qualifications:

Essential:

Advanced educational preparation in infection control Experience with

Equivalent Qualifications:

Nonessential:

1 Year Minimum of one year in infection control practice
0 Year long term care, geriatric and/or rehabilitative nurse
0 Year Nursing experience with leadership and teaching abilities
