Responsibilities:
The Licensed Infection Preventionist is responsible for the prevention, investigation, monitoring, and reporting of the spread of diseases in the Behavioral Health Center, Home Health Agency, and Skilled Nursing Facilities. The Infection Preventionist works collaboratively with clinical leadership, nursing, environmental services, and quality teams to monitor infection trends, investigate exposures and outbreaks, and implement evidence-based prevention strategies tailored to both community-based and inpatient behavioral health environments. Works with the system's infection prevention team and the rest of the CMC community to implement Infection Prevention policies, procedures, and programs. Provides Infection Prevention education, conducts epidemiological investigations, and recommends improvements. In conjunction with the Chairman of Infection Control Committee and in consultation with post-acute leadership, may institute any appropriate control measures, isolation procedures, or studies when there is an immediate infection risk to patients or personnel.
Qualifications:
Education Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Pharmacy required. Incumbents hired on or before 5/10/2018 will be grandfathered into role with an Associate's Degree or higher Completion of basic course in Infection Control recognized by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control (APIC) or obtain within two years of hire required Master's Degree in Nursing, Pharmacy, or field of specialty preferred Experience 2 years in related experience required Experience in Infection Prevention, Healthcare Education, Epidemiology, Infectious Diseases, Employee Health, or Public Health preferred Licenses and Certifications
CBIC-CIC
  • Certified Infection Control required within 3 years of hire or transfer into position Incumbents in role before 5/11/2018 have three (3) years to obtain the CIC certification One of the following is required: RN
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse license to work within the state of California RPH
  • Registered Pharmacist with valid
