The Intermediate Infection Preventionist sets a professional example both within the department and as a representative of the department throughout the institution. An Intermediate Infection Preventionist is able to successfully work both as a team member as well as independently with little management oversight. 30% Investigate clusters or outbreaks of infection using fundamental statistics or data tools. Develop, review, evaluate and implement infection prevention and control policies to improve quality of care. Consult with department and administrative staff on infection prevention and control issues. Represent department/team at unit/institutional meetings. Intermediate Infection Preventionists make decisions within the scope of their responsibilities and collaborate with IPE mentors, accreditation agencies, health departments and high-level disinfection project manager on infection prevention-related issues. 30% Conduct IP assessments/rounding and perform coaching on infection prevention priorities such as The Joint Commission, hand hygiene and healthcare-associated infection prevention. 10% Participate in interdisciplinary quality improvement projects, including creating education materials and programs for assigned areas, using data from dashboards and databases. 10% Collect, review, analyze and interpret surveillance data using electronic medical record and ing NHSN definitions to populations independently with minimal oversight . 5% Recommend appropriate actions to clinicians and administrators targeted to eliminate infectious risks in patients and staff. Conduct activities related to exposure of patients and employees of communicable diseases. Plan, develop and conduct educational programs for UMH employees. Observe, advise and train faculty and staff regarding assessing, preventing, and controlling infection risks. 5% Lead daily departmental huddles and other department level meetings 5% Participate in teaching opportunities in School of Public Health/School of Nursing or equivalent 5% Other duties as assigned MPH/MS with relevant classwork or experience in Infection Prevention, healthcare, public health, laboratory or related field Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong written and verbal communication skills Data collection and analysis, report writing and data presentation skills Ability to use a variety of computer programs and software applications to epidemiologic principles Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) Ability to reliably attend in person and virtual meetings. Board certified in Infection Prevention (CIC) Minimum of 5 years of experience in infection prevention Experience with data visualization such as Tableau Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. ground screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
