DESCRIPTION
This work involves the analysis and management of information regarding the frequency and distribution of diseases and injuries within human populations and environments. The Epidemiologist - Data Analyst will design, create and maintain databases and data systems, pinpoint trends and patterns and identify new opportunities for process improvement. The employee acts as a consultant to the staff of the Health Department in programs relating to chronic disease, injury prevention, bio-terrorist threats and disease outbreaks and patterns in a community. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EITHER:
A.Graduation from an accredited college or university with at least a Master's degree in Mathematics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Computer Science or a closely related health science field; OR, B.Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Public Health, Epidemiolo- gy, Biostatistics or a closely related health science field and two (2) years of experience in informatics or computer science; OR, C.Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of experience in informatics or com- puter science.
NOTE:
•Incumbents in this position must be willing to be immunized for diseases as necessary and appropriate; •Incumbents must be available by pager, during business hours and after hours, to respond, as necessary, to notifications of public health emergencies.

The HELP Program is a temporary program designed to help local government employers address current staffing issues. Traditionally, the titles filled under the HELP Program required job candidates to compete in a competitive exam to be considered for employment. For the duration of the program, this title will be classified as non-competitive and categorized as a "HELP Program" position. At the close of the program, this position will revert to competitive class status. Employees occupying positions filled through the HELP Program will be granted competitive class status without the need to participate in a competitive exam.
