Registered Nurse (RN) Infection Preventionist Full-Time | Erie, Pennsylvania A reputable and growing long-term care and rehabilitation facility in the Erie, Pennsylvania area is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Infection Preventionist to join our clinical leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a clinically skilled nurse who is passionate about resident safety, infection prevention, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance. The Infection Preventionist is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the facility's Infection Prevention and Control Program in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as current standards of practice. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead and oversee the facility's Infection Prevention and Control Program. Conduct ongoing surveillance, tracking, analysis, and reporting of infections among residents and staff. Investigate outbreaks and potential communicable disease exposures and implement appropriate control measures. Collaborate with medical providers, nursing leadership, department managers, and public health agencies regarding infection prevention initiatives. Monitor antibiotic stewardship practices and participate in quality assurance and performance improvement programs. Ensure compliance with CMS, CDC, OSHA, Pennsylvania Department of Health, and facility infection prevention guidelines. Develop and maintain infection prevention policies, procedures, and educational materials. Provide orientation and ongoing staff education regarding infection prevention and control practices. Monitor employee health-related infection control activities, including vaccination and exposure tracking as applicable. Prepare reports, maintain required documentation, and participate in regulatory surveys and audits. Serve as a resource for residents, families, staff, and leadership regarding infection prevention best practices. Qualifications Required Current and unrestricted Pennsylvania Registered Nurse (RN) license. Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, acute care, or a related healthcare setting. Knowledge of infection prevention principles, epidemiology, surveillance methods, and disease transmission. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary teams. Proficiency with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Previous Infection Preventionist experience in a long-term care setting. Infection Prevention certification (CIC) or willingness to obtain certification. Experience with CMS regulations, Quality Measures, and survey preparedness. Experience in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
