Supervision Exercised:
This classification does not have supervisory authority; however, may be required to provide expertise or limited guidance or direction to employees, such as overseeing work quality, training, and guidance. Typically serves as a subject matter expert on the scope of functional area.Supervision Received:
Receives general supervision. This classification typically performs job duties by following established standard operating procedures and/or policies. Regular direction, guidance, and coaching from supervisor may be expected. There is a choice of the appropriate procedure or policy to apply to duties. Performance reviewed periodically. Qualifications Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge and demonstrated skills in the principles and practices of epidemiology, disease surveillance, investigative techniques, and data management. Knowledge and skills in epidemiologic analysis, particularly planning and managing epidemiologic projects; collecting, analyzing, and interpreting population health data and knowledge of quantitative and qualitative evaluation methodologies for process and outcome evaluations. Skill in statistical software and database management such as R, SAS, or STATA. Skill in using a computer and various software packages including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook) required. Skill in writing scientific reports and data summaries. Ability to write and maintain accurate records and reports to meet management objectives. Verifiable experience with presenting data to a variety of stakeholders. Skill in prioritizing and organizing multiple tasks and the ability to complete projects in a timely manner. Ability to respond in a flexible manner and reprioritize work as situations change. Skill in demonstrating a cooperative, professional attitude to cultivate relationships both within and outside the organization. Ability to provide excellent customer service. Proficiency with data visualization software preferred. Ability to identify community health status in relation to public health services and determine areas of unmet needs Ability to abide by privacy, confidentiality, and HIPAA policies of the agency. Ability to maintain the security of sensitive and confidential information. Ability to recognize potential ethical and legal issues related to epidemiological studies, research, and data analytics. Ability to demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns. Ability to identify problems and work creatively to develop solutions and recommend corrective actions to supervisor, considering the impact of actions. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Ability to understand and follow agency policies and procedures. Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Required Education & Experience Master of Public Health or Science in epidemiology, biostatistics, or closely related analytic field. Two years of experience conducting data analysis and using data analytical tools. Preferred Education & Experience Previous experience in a governmental public health agency. Licenses/Certificates Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Pre-Employment Requirements Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, motor vehicle record check, and drug screen. Work Conditions Duties are performed primarily in an office environment and remote work environment dependent upon Department discretion and business needs and may contain potential exposure to infections, blood, and contagious diseases. May be required to work outside of normal business hours. Some travel may be required; work may be assigned in various locations. Public Health employees are responsible for providing proof of vaccinations and/or tuberculosis testing as applicable to the specific position and must provide proof of completion of required vaccinations/testing or proof of initiation within sixty days of hire date.
