Summary:
The RN - Infection Preventionist is responsible for the development and implementation of the Infection Prevention plan. This individual shall ensure the plan is based on current, sound, and published epidemiological principles. The Preventionist is responsible to ensure that the plan is developed into policy and accessible to team members and staff as needed. The Prevenonist is responsible for surveillance and reporting of health-care acquired infections, diseases of epidemiologic significance to the facility, team member, patient, staff and visitor exposures or iatrogenic illness, and diseases required by the Department of Public Health. The Preventionist is responsible to report conditions that warrant immediate action to prevent illness or injury and to take independent action when necessary. The Preventionist is responsible for coordinating compliance with The Joint Commission Standards for surveillance, prevention, and control of Infection, and applicable local, state and federal guidelines addressing infection control or infectious diseases. The role requires establishing close working relationships with the Laboratory, Pharmacy, OR, and all areas performing invasive procedures. The Preventionist shall work collaboratively with Team Member Health, Organizational Development, Patient Safety and Quality. The Preventionist has active membership in the following system and facility committees: Value Analysis Team, and Safety Committee. Education is a key component of the Preventionist's role. Community education and when appropriate patients and family education relative to Infection Prevention may be required.
Requirements:
Associate's degree from an accredited Nursing program, Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience in nursing with knowledge of microbiology, infectious diseases, and medical terminology required.

Valid and active RN licensure in appropriate state
