$28-32/hr We are seeking a dedicated Public Health Data Analyst/Epidemiologist to join our dynamic team committed to advancing public health initiatives through rigorous data analysis and epidemiological research. This position will help strengthen Tennessee's multidisciplinary overdose working group and improve the use of overdose data for public health planning and response. This role involves designing and implementing epidemiological studies, managing complex health datasets, and translating statistical findings into actionable insights. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in epidemiology, biostatistics, and data visualization tools, contributing significantly to our efforts in infectious disease research, health surveillance, and evidence-based policy development. Key Responsibilities Overdose Working Group Leadership Organize and facilitate monthly statewide multidisciplinary overdose working group meetings . Develop and distribute meeting invitations, reminders, agendas, presentations, and meeting notes.
Lead engaging meetings that incorporate:
Current overdose trends and surveillance findings. Partner updates and program activities. Subject matter expert presentations. Research findings and evidence-based interventions. Group discussion and information sharing. Coordinate subject matter experts and presenters on overdose-related research, surveillance, prevention, and response strategies. Ensure meetings are organized, productive, and focused on actionable outcomes. Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership Development Identify and recruit new members to expand participation in the statewide working group. Build relationships with regional epidemiologists, local health departments, state agencies, healthcare organizations, and other community partners. Develop strategies to increase partner engagement and demonstrate the value of overdose surveillance data. Working Group Coordination Develop and maintain a centralized working group resource hub. Organize and maintain meeting notes, presentations, data resources, research, educational materials, and other shared documents. Ensure resources are accessible, current, and organized for working group members. Annual Working Group Meeting Assist with planning and coordinating the annual in-person overdose working group meeting. Coordinate partner presentations, success stories, program spotlights, and discussion sessions. Support evaluation of the working group's impact and the usefulness of overdose data to participating partners. Coordinate travel arrangements and logistics for eligible Hal Rogers working group participants. Epidemiologic Data & Visualization Assist with creating, updating, and maintaining overdose surveillance dashboards and data visualizations. Analyze large datasets to identify emerging overdose trends and patterns. Translate complex epidemiologic findings into clear, concise, and easy-to-interpret data products. Support timely reporting of emerging trends to assist overdose prevention and response efforts. Develop visualizations that can be effectively used by public health professionals, state agencies, and community partners. Document analytical processes, methodologies, and workflows to promote reproducibility, consistency, and transparency. Required Bachelor's or Master's degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, Statistics, Health Information, or a related field, depending on the employer's classification requirements. Experience with public health data analysis and epidemiologic methods . Proficiency in at least one statistical/data programming language: R, SAS, or SQL . Experience working with large datasets . Experience creating data visualizations, dashboards, reports, or other data products . Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to present complex data in a clear, understandable way . Ability to facilitate meetings and coordinate multidisciplinary stakeholders . Strong organizational and project-management skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines .
