Job Description

Gifford is seeking a results-driven individual to join our team in Quality as an Infection Prevention Specialist. The Infection Prevention Specialist is responsible for the identification, investigation, reporting, prevention, and control of infections throughout the organization. This role promotes a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors by leading infection prevention efforts and ensuring compliance with CDC, APIC, and CMS requirements. The Infection Prevention Specialist provides staff education on practices that reduce the risk of infection transmission and incorporates ongoing process improvement into infection prevention and quality initiatives. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining the Infection Prevention and Control Plan, conducting surveillance and recordkeeping for health care-associated infections, and reporting required data to state, county, and local health agencies. The Infection Prevention Specialist serves as a clinical resource to staff, collaborates with providers, nursing, and Employee Health to address patient and employee infection risks, and supports the development and evaluation of care plans related to infection prevention. Ongoing professional development and strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential to success in this role.
Requirements:
Associate's degree in Nursing or related Science required; Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred Current Vermont RN license or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification required 3-5 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting Previous infection prevention/control experience preferred; Certified Infection Control (CIC) preferred, with CIC expected within three years of hire Experience with performance improvement methods and tools, group facilitation, and project management; CPHQ certification desired (or equivalent) Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) Gifford Health Care offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.
