Job Description

Job Summary We are looking for a detail-oriented Quality Control Assistant to support our Quality Department in maintaining the highest standards of food safety while driving product innovation. This role bridges the gap between daily quality compliance and the future of our product line through product testing, shelf-life analysis, and packaging development. Key Expectations Support the Quality Department in daily QA tasks, program management, and R&D initiatives. Execute stability and shelf-life testing protocols for current and upcoming products. Monitor compliance with safety protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Coach sanitation and production personnel to ensure quality and R&D standards are met. Collaborate with the production team to reach output goals and ensure successful product launches.
Responsibilities Shelf-Life & Stability Testing:
Design and execute shelf-life studies (accelerated and real-time) to determine "Best By" dating for new formulations. Monitor and document organoleptic changes (flavor, color, texture) and microbial stability over time.
Packaging & Innovation:
Assist in testing new packaging materials for durability, seal integrity, and moisture barriers. Evaluate how new packaging interactions affect product quality and sensory characteristics. Maintain a library of R&D samples, trial data, and ingredient specifications for future scaling.
R&D & Product Innovation:
Assist in the development and bench-testing of new recipes, ensuring they align with brand standards. Coordinate trial runs for new products, documenting variances in production flow and stability.
Food Safety & Compliance:
Help maintain the SQF System and ensure all R&D formulations meet federal and customer safety requirements. Ensure all raw materials—including experimental ingredients—are identified and traceable.
Quality Control:
Assist the Director of Quality in monitoring weights, labeling accuracy, and sensory profiles to ensure consistency between R&D benchmarks and full-scale production.
Required Skills & Qualifications Analytical Mindset:
Basic understanding of food chemistry, ingredient functionality, and shelf-life testing methodologies.
Technical Literacy:
Proficient in Microsoft Excel (for stability data tracking), Word, and networked environments.
Packaging Knowledge:
Demonstrated interest or experience in packaging integrity and material testing.
Communication:
Exceptional skills to bridge the gap between R&D concepts and production realities.
Soft Skills:
High degree of reliability, curiosity-driven problem-solving, and a focus on technical detail.
Compensation:
