Geologist Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Geologist with 5-10 years of experience in the field. An accredited Bachelor's Degree in Geology is preferred, though a degree in Geological Engineering is also accepted. This role requires extensive travel and involves working on various geological projects, including well installation, foundation investigations, and contamination assessments.Responsibilities:
Oversee field operations for monitoring well installation programs, foundation investigations, contamination assessments, and geologic site characterizations. Perform soil and rock logging and prepare professional logs for soil, rock, and monitoring well construction data. Install and manage water monitoring and water quality equipment, including data output management. Manage drilling and related contractors according to company guidelines and procedures. Interface with various customers and assist the Geologist and Land Group peers to facilitate field investigations.Essential Skills:
Experience in executing field investigations using various drilling methods and resources. Proficiency in soil and rock logging, monitoring well construction, groundwater monitoring, and field data reporting. Knowledge of environmental sampling and testing methods. General understanding of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Working knowledge of gINT BoreDM Boring Log Program. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to work with limited supervision. Effective oral and written communication skills.Additional Skills & Qualifications:
5-10 years of experience in a related field. Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Geology preferred; Geological Engineering accepted. Safety-first mindset. Strong customer focus and conflict resolution skills.Work Environment:
The position entails fieldwork with a typical workweek of four 10-hour days from Monday to Thursday, with occasional 10-day shifts. There is extensive travel required throughout the southeastern United States, primarily in Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Birmingham, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.50 - $32.50/hr.
