Job Description

The Department of Environmental Quality/Office of Environmental Assessment has a vacancy. The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality's (LDEQ) mission is to provide service to the people of Louisiana through comprehensive environmental protection in order to promote and protect health, safety and welfare. Step into a leadership role that drives environmental protection across Louisiana. As the manager of Remediation Group 4, you'll guide a team of geologists and environmental scientists tackling some of the state's most complex soil and groundwater remediation challenges—shaping policy, ensuring regulatory consistency, and representing the agency in high-visibility settings. A bachelor's degree in a geoscience field or geological engineering plus five years of experience in a geological field; OR A master's degree in a geoscience field or geological engineering plus four years of experience in a geological field; OR A doctorate in a geoscience field or geological engineering plus three years of experience in a geological field. Job Duties:
Lead and manage Remediation Group 4, ensuring timely evaluation, assignment, and progress tracking of all remediation sites. Supervise geologists and environmental scientists across headquarters and regional offices, setting priorities and ensuring alignment with agency goals. Coordinate with EPA and state/local agencies, providing input and tracking progress on RCRA and CERCLA grant commitments. Support regulatory and policy decisions for hazardous and solid waste programs, including technical review of groundwater components of RCRA permits. Represent the Department in public forums and ensure clear communication of policies while overseeing staff training, performance reviews, and development.
