Position Overview:
Rangefront is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Exploration Geologist to support active drilling programs for one of our valued mining clients. This position is heavily field-based and centers around working at drill rigs, monitoring drilling progress, collecting and managing samples, and ensuring accurate, high-quality data collection. This role offers an excellent opportunity to build hands-on experience in exploration geology while contributing directly to drilling success through real-time data interpretation, sample integrity, and drill hole documentation. The successful candidate will play a key role in collecting, organizing, analyzing, and reporting geological data, while maintaining a strong focus on safety and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Work safely at all times around active drill rigs and heavy equipment, identifying and mitigating potential hazards Monitor drilling activity closely and coordinate with drillers to ensure proper sample recovery and interval control Collect, label, and manage drill cuttings and/or core samples with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail Perform detailed core logging and/or chip logging, including lithology, alteration, structure, and mineralization Maintain accurate and organized field notes, sample records, and data logs in real time Ensure sample integrity through proper handling, storage, and documentation procedures Compile and interpret geological data from drilling, mapping, and assays Prepare and contribute to drill hole summary reports, including observations, interpretations, and key findings Correlate new drill data with existing geological models and assist in updating interpretations Support QA/QC procedures, including insertion and tracking of standards, blanks, and duplicates Communicate effectively with project geologists, supervisors, and drill crews to maintain workflow and data quality Work with the exploration team to update and refine the exploration model(s), lithology, geochemistry and structural data Maintain clean and organized workspaces at drill sites and field locations Requirements B.S. in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field 1-3 years of geology experience, preferably in mineral exploration or drilling environments Experience or familiarity with drill rig operations, sampling procedures, or core/cuttings logging preferred Experience with geological software (Leapfrog, ArcGIS, or similar) is a plus Knowledge of Carlin-type deposits is preferred Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate data collection and documentation Ability to work independently in remote, fast-paced field environments Physically capable of working long hours outdoors and handling field tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs) Valid driver's license with a clean driving record What We Offer Competitive pay (DOE) and per diem.
