Job Description Job Description Pre-dominately outdoor field work in rural areas with necessary office tasks to properly document environmental monitoring and inspection efforts. Monitoring and inspection tasks generally include: Stream monitoring for flow volumes, flow observations, and water chemistry; Groundwater monitoring for private water supplies (wells, springs, and ponds), monitoring wells, and piezometers; Groundwater well performance tests to determine yield/recovery rates of private water water wells; Monitoring of NPDES outlets; Construction monitoring and density testing for geotechnical purposes; Visual inspections to document the condition of structures and infrastructure components; Prepare detailed field documentation, reports, and mapping location documents. Depending on experience, education, interests, and skillsets this role can also assist with: Stream and Wetland Delineations; Macro-invertebrate sampling and sorting for stream assessments; Vegetation Surveys and Vegetation Management for long-term restoration and mitigation sites; Geologic investigations through installation of test pits, core logs, monitoring wells & piezometers; Use of mapping applications, software, and GPS devices to locate natural resources, monitoring locations, infrastructure, other items of interest; Drone Pilot Licensing and Drone Surveys to complete aerial inspections and capture high-resolution imagery and data for mapping, compliance, and engineering purposes. Willing to train the right candidate which can demonstrate the following: Ability to walk long distances on uneven ground while carrying necessary field gear; Ability to work independently in remote/rural areas; Comfortable working outdoor in all weather conditions; speaking with property owners; and working around active farms (cattle, horses, sheep, etc.) and construction sites as necessary; Desire to routinely conduct field work associated with surface water and groundwater data collection and construction monitoring and/or inspections; Strong attention to detail with good judgment and problem-solving capabilities to address field circumstances encountered; Demonstrated ability to multi-task while organizing and implementing field work and sampling plans; Preference given to candidates that demonstrate the following: Field experience related to groundwater or surface water monitoring including sampling techniques and protocols; Field experience conducting construction monitoring, inspections, density testing, or drone surveys; Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, mapping applications/software, or GPS data collection proceedures; Have a BS in Geology, Environmental Science, Biology; Wildlife and Fisheries; Engineering Fields; or related discipline.
