ABOUT THE POSITION
Environmental Engineer / Geologist Project Manager - Site Investigation & Remediation (SI&R) New England or New York | Hybrid VHB is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer, Geologist, or Hydrogeologist to join our growing National Site Investigation & Remediation (SI&R) practice as a Project Manager. This hybrid role can be based out of any of our New England offices (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, or Massachusetts) or our New York City office. Our SI&R team partners with both public and private sector clients to manage properties impacted by hazardous substances and petroleum releases. We provide comprehensive services across the full project lifecycle—from site identification and characterization through risk assessment, remedial design and implementation, and regulatory closure. As part of our national practice, you'll have the opportunity to work on diverse projects across multiple jurisdictions throughout the United States, collaborating with a talented and multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities Work closely with clients to identify and mitigate environmental liabilities associated with property they own or manage Develop and manage effective site investigation and remediation field programs Provide mentoring and hands-on support to junior team members during field exploration and testing Develop conceptual site models to help Interpret and communicate investigation findings Leverage technology to support data management and visualization Manage Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Engineering Evaluation/Cost Analyses, Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Studies and long-term monitoring programs Review and write technical reports, correspondence, notes, and memoranda Skills and Attributes Ability to work primarily in the office with some field oversight Effectively communicate complex topics with colleagues and clients Recognize and manage business risk Problem solve and work independently Strong understanding of State and federal regulatory requirements including those associated with the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) Ability to make quick decisions regarding regulatory applicability and respond to clients in an efficient manner Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Motivated and able to problem-solve Strong knowledge of site assessment/characterization, data/statistical analysis, remediation techniques, and risk assessment Experience working on contaminated sites within multiple jurisdictions including interaction with local, State, and Federal regulators PFAS experience and knowledge preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related field required 8+ years of professional environmental site characterization and remediation experience required, depending on level of education (master's may substitute for 1 year) Master's Degree preferred OSHA 40 hr.
HAZWOPER
certification and annual refresher certifications required Professional Licensure or Certification (PE, PG, CHMM, QEP) The base salary range for this position is $95,000 to $148,000 for New York, Vermont and Massachussetts locations. This offer is determined based on a number of job-related factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities and geographic location.
