Coho Integrated Solutions is seeking a highly qualified Flight Surgeon to provide critical Medical Director oversight and patient-facing clinical support within the NASA Armstrong Occupational Health Unit located at Edwards Air Force Base, California. This role operates within a fast-paced aerospace and clinical research environment supporting NASA personnel and mission readiness activities.
The Flight Surgeon serves as a key medical authority responsible for aviation medical evaluations, operational medicine support, occupational health oversight, and coordination of aerospace medical services. This position combines advanced clinical expertise with aerospace medicine principles to ensure the health, safety, and operational readiness of astronauts, pilots, and aerospace personnel supporting NASA missions.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Conduct comprehensive aviation and aerospace medical evaluations for NASA and FAA certification requirements
Perform NASA First, Second, and Third Class Aviation Medical Examinations and FAA medical certification examinations as a designated FAA Senior Aviation Medical Examiner (AME)
Provide medical oversight and operational support for NASA Qualified Non-Crewmember certifications and occupational health programs
Serve as Medical Director supporting daily clinical operations, patient care coordination, and mission readiness activities
Develop and implement health, wellness, and preventative care strategies tailored to aerospace and operational environments
Manage medical emergencies and provide advanced clinical care, including airway management, trauma response, acute care, and stabilization
Maintain accurate and compliant patient documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, medical documentation standards, and occupational health requirements
Support aerospace medicine research initiatives involving human physiology, operational medicine, radiation exposure, and neurocritical care
Coordinate post-mission rehabilitation planning, return-to-duty evaluations, and medical follow-up care
Collaborate with multidisciplinary medical, operational, and research teams supporting NASA mission objectives
Support telehealth and remote consultation initiatives for operational and aerospace medicine programs
Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements:
Education and Certifications:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution
Board Certification in Aerospace Medicine or a related specialty such as Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, or Family Medicine
Current unrestricted medical license
FAA Senior Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) designation required
Required Experience:
Extensive clinical experience in hospital, inpatient, occupational health, or aerospace medicine settings
Proven experience conducting aviation medical examinations and operational medical evaluations
Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR/EHR) systems such as Epic or similar platforms
Strong understanding of medical records management, patient assessment, and clinical documentation standards
Experience with trauma medicine, ICU, neurocritical care, emergency medicine, or acute care environments preferred
Hands-on clinical proficiency in airway management, suturing, IV infusion therapy, and wound care
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of aerospace physiology and operational medicine principles
Knowledge of cardiology, pulmonology, endocrinology, immunology, sleep medicine, and related disciplines impacting aerospace performance
Ability to work effectively in high-tempo, mission-critical environments
