Job Title:
Medical Laboratory Scientist Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will perform a variety of laboratory tests to deliver quality patient care. You will ensure the accuracy and efficiency of laboratory procedures, while maintaining a safe working environment. Responsibilities Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria. Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures. Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality. Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving. Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls. Report accurate and timely test results. Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures. Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary. Assist with processing of specimens when needed. Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology. 2-4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Proficient with computers. High level of attention to detail. Strong communication and organizational skills. Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen. Additional Skills & Qualifications State Medical Technologist license may be required. ASCP or AMT certification is either preferred or required. Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus. Generalist experience in all areas is preferred, with a focus on Chemistry. Sample processing, grossing, and staining experience. Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs. Work Environment The role requires comfort with being on your feet for extended periods in a fast-paced environment. You will be working with various laboratory technologies and equipment and are expected to wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pensacola, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
