Job Description
Overview:
Performs routine and specialized laboratory tests and other procedures for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Utilizes requisite equipment, instruments, and computer systems. Evaluates and reports patient results using considerable independent judgment within the scope of established testing methods. Performs quality control procedures and contributes to the maintenance of the laboratory, equipment, and supplies. Assists in the development and implementation of new procedures and instrumentation. May assume responsibility for one or more laboratory projects or functions such as performance improvement, safety, quality control, regulatory, administrative, staff development, and computer systems. Trains new employees and/or students in the theoretical and operational aspects of procedures and serves as a resource for less experienced staff. Performs other duties as assigned.Department Description:
