Full-time appointment on a five-year fixed-term basis. The University of Western Australia, in partnership with the Leukaemia Foundation, is seeking an internationally recognised academic leader to be appointed as the Leukaemia Foundation Tony Fini Chair in Blood Cancer. This newly created position represents a unique opportunity to shape the future of blood cancer research nationally and globally. The successful candidate will be an outstanding researcher and leader in blood cancer or related blood disorders, with a distinguished record of research excellence, competitive grant success, translational impact and academic leadership. You will lead an ambitious, internationally competitive research program with a strong focus on prevention, early detection and diagnostics, areas traditionally underrepresented in blood cancer research. We welcome applications from both clinician researchers and laboratory-based researchers across discovery and translational research, including those focused on adult or paediatric populations. Reporting to the Head of the UWA Medical School (for clinician researchers) or the School of Biomedical Sciences (for laboratory-based researchers), the Chair will build and lead a high-performing, inclusive research team, supervise higher degree research students, mentor early- and mid‑career academics, and foster interdisciplinary collaboration across UWA, Medical Research Institutes and external partners. There may be scope for concurrent clinical practice, subject to agreement with the WA Department of Health. You will play a key role in strengthening UWA's relationship with the Leukaemia Foundation, representing both organisations nationally and internationally, and contributing to strategic partnerships with competitive funding bodies, philanthropy, government, industry and the community. You will be recognised as a trusted advocate and spokesperson for blood cancer research, capable of communicating complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
