Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE
The Medical Laboratory Scientist Lead position is responsible for performing general duties pertaining to the processing of patient samples to accommodate accurate and timely laboratory testing. This position is responsible for accurately performing tests and reporting results in the fields of microbiology, coagulation, chemistry, hematology, transfusion medicine, serology and urinalysis. Comprehensive microbiology may be required to cover the shift. This position is responsible for quality control, ordering and inventory, maintenance, survey testing and accreditation, as well as teaching and mentoring.
MINIMUM MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE
Four (4) years as a Medical Laboratory Scientist Lead or experience in high complexity testing.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical or laboratory science and/or Medical Technology program from an accredited institution required.
MANDATORY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required. Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills are required. Knowledge of and compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Computer proficiency and technical aptitude in Microsoft and Laboratory Information Systems. Knowledge of Meditech preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum one (1) year phlebotomy experience preferred.
