The Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff. A full-time Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, specifically in the collaborative laboratories of David burg and Ardythe Morrow. Essential Functions

Under the supervision of the primary investigators, conduct research experiments in mucosal immunology, pro-inflammatory signaling, extracellular vesicles, anaerobic fermentation by intestinal microbiota, and instrumental analysis of human milk components. The goal of this research is to test the ability of individual human milk components to modify gut colonization and inhibit disease.

Gather and analyze data using an Agilent QQQ (triple quadrupole mass spectrometry system) for liquid chromatography (LC-MS) analysis of bioactive carbohydrates and free fatty acids, and cell culture and tissue culture to assess their bioactivity.

Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts and other presentations of research results.

Contribute to manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentation; assist in grant writing.

Keep informed of developments in the areas of human milk glycobiology, gut microbiota, and analytical biochemistry to maintain and enhance professional expertise.

Teach techniques to others; train and mentor junior research staff.

Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities by attending lectures and researching published scientific literature.

Play an active role in seeking career and research advice from the faculty supervisor and other faculty members.

Engage in lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed.

Required Education

Prior to effective date of appointment, a Doctoral Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or a related field
