Job Description
About the Role Medasource is partnering with one of our top clinical laboratory clients to identify a Medical Laboratory Scientist for a contract opportunity based in Dublin, Ohio. This role focuses on Ova and Parasite (O&P) testing, including cyclospora smear analysis using methods such as fluorescent microscopy.
This is a high-impact position:
the team is actively working to address a backlog of O&P specimens, and this hire will play a direct role in helping the lab catch up and maintain timely turnaround for patient results. It's an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented laboratory professional with strong microscopy and parasitology skills to make an immediate impact in a high-volume clinical lab environment, with a clear path toward extension or full-time conversion for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities- Perform Ova and Parasite (O&P) testing on clinical specimens, including slide reading and identification of parasitic organisms
- Analyze cyclospora smears using fluorescent microscopy and other applicable methodologies
- Accurately read and interpret slides to detect and identify ova, parasites, and related organisms
- Follow established laboratory protocols, quality control standards, and safety procedures
- Document and report test results in accordance with lab and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with lab team members and supervisors to ensure timely, accurate turnaround of results Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific field (e.g., Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Microbiology, or related discipline)
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant laboratory experience
- Hands-on experience reading slides and identifying parasites
- Background in Ova and Parasite (O&P) testing
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a high-volume testing environment Preferred Qualifications
- MLS or MLS/MLT certification (ASCP or equivalent) highly preferred
- Candidates with several years of directly relevant O&P/parasitology experience will also be considered in lieu of certification
- Experience with fluorescent microscopy techniques

$23.00- $26.
