Lead Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) -Tiffin Hospital Job Summary:
The Lead Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) is responsible for performing a full range of laboratory testing and providing physicians with quality results using a variety of clinical laboratory equipment. As a Lead Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) it is important to support the Technical Specialist in the performance of tasks that enhance the operations of the laboratory.Essential Functions:
Performs the duties of a Medical Lab Scientist Assists Technical Specialist with the implementation of new procedures and policies Collaborates with the Technical Specialist in coordinating the proficiency testing program to ensure that all testing is registered, analyzed, and reviewed to meet established deadlines Recommends system changes to increase efficiency and accuracy of workflow and ensure daily operational efficiencies Completes schedules of department and updates time/schedule as necessary for daily operations Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position Other duties as assignedEducation:
Bachelor of Science in one of the following: Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology or Biochemistry through a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved program (required)Certifications:
ForBSMH, MLS
Medical Lab Scientist Certification or eligible by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP) (required) For RSFH (as of 3/27/25), if registry eligible, must achieve certification within 12 months from hire date.Experience:
2 years of clinical lab experienced required 5 years of clinical lab experience preferred, but not requiredSkills & Abilities:
