Job Description

Job Summary The Medical Laboratory Scientist Lead is responsible for overseeing daily chemistry laboratory operations including specimen processing, high-complexity testing, quality control, and accurate reporting of patient results. This position ensures compliance with CLIA, OSHA, and HIPAA standards and supports laboratory staff training and workflow efficiency. This position performs OSHA Category I duties involving exposure to blood and body fluids. Responsibilities Perform testing authorized by the Medical Laboratory Director Process specimens and report accurate patient results Follow laboratory policies for specimen handling, testing, and documentation Perform and document Quality Control, calibrations, and proficiency testing Maintain laboratory instrumentation and required maintenance records Identify testing issues and implement corrective actions Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and Universal Precautions Utilize Laboratory Information System (LIS) effectively Train and support laboratory assistants as needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field required Meets CLIA High Complexity Testing Personnel requirements Experience operating clinical laboratory analyzers Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment Physical Requirements Standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting as required Exposure to blood and body fluids (OSHA Category I) Benefits Competitive pay based on experience Paid time off, Sick time and holidays Medical, Dental, Vision, STD, LTD, Life Insurance Continuing education opportunities Apply Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply to join a collaborative laboratory team focused on quality patient care.
