Job Description
We are seeking experienced and highly productive Meter Installation Technicians to support ongoing public works utility infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for field technicians with strong experience in water meter replacement programs and endpoint technology upgrades who thrive in fast-paced, production-driven environments. Compensation $50-$75 per hour , depending on experience, certifications, and project background Position Summary The Meter Installation Technician is responsible for the removal and replacement of existing residential water meters and communication endpoints as part of large-scale utility modernization projects. Technicians will work independently or in crews to complete high-volume daily meter exchanges while maintaining quality workmanship, safety compliance, and accurate documentation. Key Responsibilities Replace existing 5/8" x 3/4" water meters with new utility-approved meters Remove outdated AMR/AMI endpoints and install/configure new communication endpoints Perform field verification, testing, and activation of installed equipment Maintain accurate installation records and ensure proper documentation of completed work Meet or exceed daily production goals and project performance standards Follow all public works, municipal, and jobsite safety requirements Communicate professionally with residents, inspectors, utility representatives, and project managers when necessary Troubleshoot installation issues in the field and escalate unresolved issues appropriately Qualifications Minimum 2+ years of water meter installation experience OR Minimum 1 year of experience working on meter replacement projects Experience with AMR/AMI systems and endpoint replacements preferred Ability to work efficiently in a high-production field environment Familiarity with utility construction standards, safety procedures, and municipal requirements Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferredPreferred Traits Self-motivated and dependable Strong time management and productivity mindset Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Team-oriented with a commitment to quality and safety This is an excellent opportunity for experienced utility field technicians seeking competitive pay and consistent project work within the public works sector.
