Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused professional to join our team as an Electrical Systems Verification & Validation Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all installed electrical systems and equipment meet the performance and safety standards set
Witness Testing Coordination:
Schedule and coordinate witness testing for fixed-axis and tracking solar facilities, ensuring testing occurs within designated timeframes (10 a.m.-3 p.m. for fixed, from 9 a.m. for tracking). Monitor weather conditions and communicate with the GPC Representative to reschedule testing as needed, following proper notification protocols to avoid unnecessary fees.
On-Site Testing Execution:
Ensure all generator loads connected to the DER bus are disconnected prior to testing; verify readiness before personnel arrive. For systems where loads cannot be de-energized, perform testing at the fused or solid blade disconnect, ensuring inverters remain offline for the required duration. Operate and verify both self-contained and transformer-rated metering configurations, following step-by-step procedures.
Technical Testing Procedures:
Verify operational status of solar and battery generation systems using inverter screens, utility meters, monitoring apps, or direct current measurements. Measure and record voltage and amperage at specified test points, ensuring voltage remains within 5% of nominal values Simulate power outages by removing meters or opening disconnects, verifying voltage drops to 0 VAC within 2 seconds. Use stopwatches to confirm inverters remain offline for 5 minutes before resynchronizing with the grid; observe and document the timing of current increases.
Documentation & Reporting:
Prepare detailed reports of all witness testing activities, including test results, voltage and current readings, timing observations, and any deviations from standard procedures. Maintain accurate records of system status, test outcomes, and Permission to Operate (PTO) approvals.
Compliance & Safety:
Adhere strictly to safety protocols and industry standards throughout all testing activities. Ensure all labeling, disconnects, and metering equipment are correctly identified and operated safely. Collaborate with generator personnel, contractors, and customers as required, ensuring all parties understand their roles during testing.
