  • $85,000 Employees being promoted to a higher classified position receive the minimum for the position or a pay rate adjustment of 8% whichever is greater.
All regular positions also entitle the employee to several benefits including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement which is largely paid by New Mexico Tech for the employee and dependents.

    JOB SUMMARY:
    This position will support one or more active projects focusing on the development of open-source geodynamic modeling software towards problems addressing the roles material compressibility, reactive fluid transport, and grain size evolution in fundamental tectonic processes. Specific hypothesis-driven applications may include volatile transport through subduction systems and magma generation and transport during glacial loading or unloading.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Ph.D. or other doctorate level equivalent in Geophysics, Geodynamics or similar. Experience in the development of the community geodynamic software package ASPECT. Use of ASPECT to conduct and analyze simulations of nonlinear tectonic and reactive fluid transport processes. Leading (first author) the development and eventual publication of scholarly articles. Experience working with or utilizing petrologic and/or thermodynamic data sets in geodynamic simulations. Use of high-performance computing resources.
