Job Description

RSM Diagnostics Lab is seeking a motivated Junior Clinical Research Scientist to join our lab team. This entry-level to early-career role supports day-to-day diagnostic and research testing under the guidance of senior scientists and lab leadership, with opportunities to grow into more advanced testing and validation work over time. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or related field 0-3 years of laboratory experience (internships, coursework labs, or clinical rotations considered) Basic familiarity with ELISA, PCR, and/or microbiology culture techniques (through coursework or hands-on training) Willingness to learn NGS workflows and other advanced molecular techniques Strong attention to detail and good documentation habits Ability to follow SOPs and work well within a team environment Eagerness to grow into a senior scientist role over time Job Responsibilities Perform ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) testing under established protocols Assist with and perform RT-PCR (reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) testing for pathogen and nucleic acid detection Support microbiology culture work, including specimen plating, basic organism identification, and media preparation Assist with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) sample prep and run setup under supervision Accurately document and record test results following SOPs and quality control standards Maintain proper specimen handling, labeling, chain of custody, and biosafety protocols Assist with routine instrument maintenance, cleaning, and calibration checks Flag and report any testing discrepancies or equipment issues to senior scientists Support quality assurance activities and participate in ongoing training Collaborate with lab team members and follow direction from Lab Director and senior scientists
