Job Description
Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Level I Microbiologist to join our dynamic team. This position is ideal for individuals looking to advance their career in microbiology and laboratory science. The successful candidate will contribute to various projects, performing routine microbiological determinations and laboratory operations, and assisting with scientific research, while adhering to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and FDA regulations. Responsibilities
- Perform microbiological testing on a wide variety of sample types in a GMP/FDA regulated laboratory
- Utilize aseptic microbiology techniques to analyze samples while meeting deadlines and client expectations
- Perform microbiological testing, including media growth promotion, method suitability testing, colony counting, tests for specified microorganisms, interpretation of results, and other assessments as required
- Use analytical techniques to test water for pH, conductivity, alkalinity, dissolved oxygen, Total Organic Carbon, Total coliform, E. coli, and Legionella
- Actively review data and reports to ensure consistent, timely delivery of high-quality, accurate information
- Work with laboratory colleagues and project leaders to schedule work and testing to maximize efficiency
- Maintain laboratory notebooks, logbooks, forms, and other records and documentation as required
- Provide certificates of analysis, analytical results reports, and summaries for internal and external clients
- Address unanticipated issues and problems in an expedient, efficient, and cost-effective manner
- Be proficient with instruments such as pH meters, conductivity meters, spectrophotometers, dissolved oxygen meters, and total organic carbon equipment
- Maintenance of department inventory and ordering necessary supplies
- Perform all responsibilities in accordance with company guidelines, SOPs, and protocols, as well as appropriate industry quality and regulatory standards
- Complete and maintain all training required and related to the duties of this position
- Perform other related duties as required Qualifications
- BS in Microbiology, Biology, or related field plus at least 1 year industry experience
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Experience in handling biohazardous materials and chemicals (preferred)
- The ability to self-motivate to a high level of productivity
- Attention to detail, excellent analytical and laboratory technique
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Good problem-solving skills and a clear understanding of microbiology testing technique and principals
- Proficiency in maintaining laboratory notes, reports, and operating procedures
- Knowledge of FDA, GMP, and USP is a plus
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
