MALDI-TOF

Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) Evaluate, interpret, and validate laboratory results Maintain laboratory records and specimen tracking systems Perform quality control checks on methods, materials, and equipment Manage laboratory inventory and order supplies as needed Assist in preparing epidemiological and statistical reports Maintain competency across all trained areas Perform additional related duties as required Testing Personnel Responsibilities Perform only authorized high-complexity tests Follow all procedures for specimen handling, testing, and reporting Maintain records for proficiency testing samples Adhere to quality control and calibration procedures Identify and resolve testing issues or notify supervisors Document corrective actions for deviations in testing systems Work under supervision as required for high-complexity testing Job Requirements Strong knowledge of microbiology principles and practices Understanding of scientific testing methods and procedures Ability to operate complex laboratory equipment and systems Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and protocols Familiarity with state and federal regulations (e.g., CLIA) Eligibility for laboratory technologist certification (CLIA) Strong communication skills (verbal and written) Ability to participate in proficiency testing programs Skilled in data analysis and report preparation Difficulty of Work Requires high accuracy and analytical expertise Involves complex scientific problem-solving Requires evaluation of intricate variables and unusual samples Involves development and research of new testing procedures Responsibility Works independently with minimal supervision Follows safety protocols for chemical and biohazard materials Reports reviewed for overall technical accuracy Errors may impact health and safety Work Relationships Collaborates with supervisors and health department staff Coordinates with laboratory safety officers Interacts with external entities (e.g., health departments) Communicates technical information to staff and public Physical Effort Use of protective equipment that may be cumbersome Requires focus and precision during laboratory tasks Working Conditions Exposure to potentially hazardous biological specimens Strict adherence to safety protocols required Work environment may involve temperature fluctuations Must maintain accuracy under physically demanding conditions.
