MICROBIOLOGY LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
(part-time, temporary M, W, Fri)
Summary:
The Microbiologist I will use research and analytical skills to perform a variety of laboratory and environmental tests using aseptic techniques. The Microbiologist I will develop new and improve existing methods. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Perform Microbiology laboratory analysis on raw materials and finished goods. Perform maintenance of laboratory equipment and ensure cleanliness of laboratory. Media preparation to support laboratory testing. Identify isolated microorganisms including staining, confirmation tests, and biochemical identification tests. Maintain viable bacterial, yeast, and mold culture inventory. Conduct environmental monitoring and analyze results to maintain trending data. Perform research in the development of protocols and procedures according to industry standards. Maintain accurate records following Good Documentation Practices (GDP) on all activities conducted in the laboratory. Support Out-of-Specification and Non-conformance investigations. Assist with laboratory inventory and purchasing.
Shift:
Training Monday through Friday, transitioning to regular schedule of Wednesday through Sunday.
Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
BS degree in life sciences with a minimum of 1 - 3 years in a microbiology laboratory setting. Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred, but not required. Knowledge of United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) and c
GMP 21-CFR-210, 21-CFR-211
is preferred. Experience analyzing research articles and industry standards to plan and execute experimental protocols. Experience practicing general laboratory techniques such as aseptic technique, staining, organism isolation, and serial dilutions.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply principles of logic or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and follow Standard Operating Procedures as well as scientific and technical writings.
Math Ability:
Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction.
Computer Skills:
Microsoft office.
