Oklahoma City, OK Position Overview and Responsibilities The Rankin Lab in the Cell Cycle and Cancer Biology Research Program is seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist to study chromosome assembly and dynamics, how these events are controlled, and how corruption of these processes contributes to disease. This lab and research program offers an excellent training environment in a state-of-the-art facility. Researchers in the Rankin Lab use a variety of experimental models, including cultured cells, biochemistry, extracts and embryos from frog eggs, and advanced microscopy, to address problems related to chromosome structure, replication, and inheritance. Postdocs will receive career development support and mentorship, including in the application of computational genomic approaches. They will have opportunities to attend training courses and scientific conferences, present their work, and build connections within the research community.
Successful applicants are expected to:
Use molecular biology, biochemistry, microscopy, and genomic techniques to define mechanisms underlying chromosome stability Analyze data and maintain detailed experimental records Collaborate with other scientists in the department and beyond Keep excellent digital records Prepare manuscripts and presentations for conferences Apply for outside funding, with help from the PI, as eligible Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in a biological science, chemistry, physics, or other relevant area; M.D.; or equivalent Interest in learning new techniques and exploring complex biological questions Ability to interpret experimental data and summarize findings Commitment to participate in lab and departmental activities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated initiative in independent research projects Strong teamwork and collaborative skills Preferred Qualifications Prior research experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, or cell biology OMRF Overview Founded in 1946, the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) is among the nation's oldest, most respected independent, nonprofit biomedical research institutes.
