Job Description:
Job purpose Supervises and performs treatment planning and MU calculations to deliver accurate doses for external beam therapy. Supervises and performs brachytherapy planning calculations and source loadings. Performs quality control and calibration of radiation-producing machines and radioactive materials in Radiation Oncology. Essential Job Functions Supervises, performs, and/or reviews isodose planning of external beam and brachytherapy treatments. Supervises, performs, and/or reviews calculations of patient doses and MU. Supervises or performs accurate and timely charge capture for physics procedures. Performs calibration and QC of linear accelerators and simulators, investigates equipment problems and interacts with service personnel to rectify issues and concerns. Supervises, performs, and/or reviews brachytherapy procedures. Performs duties of Radiation Safety Officer for all facilities as needed or required. Performs patient chart checks weekly. Supervises and assists in simulation and treatment of non-routine treatment setups. Supervises or assists in fabricating beam modifying and immobilization devices. Supervises or performs diode calculations of patient treatments. Presents physics-related material to other departments and staff. Develop and implement protocols for Therapist MU calculations and isodose planning as required for clinical rotations and orientations. Performs special testing and evaluation of patient doses and procedures as requested by Radiation Oncologist. Education/Experience Requires Master's Degree in Radiological Physics. ABR or ABMP certification required
