ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY SUMMARY
Dr. Mingyan Xiao is currently seeking Part-Time Undergraduate Research Student Assistants to work on the CREST Grant, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). The research team, composed of both graduate and undergraduate researchers, is dedicated to developing a lightweight mutual authentication protocol for the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT). We are looking for highly motivated undergraduate students who are eager to engage in cutting-edge research, learn new skills in IoT security and authentication, and collaborate with and mentor fellow team members. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable research experience while contributing to an NSF-funded project at the intersection of security and IoT.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO
(this is just a small sampling of work variety): Read and analyze the latest research papers from top Computer Science conferences and journals. Propose new ideas for research projects in Cybersecurity for industrial IoT. Conduct the vulnerability experiments on a real-world industrial IoT platform Implement a lightweight mutual authentication protocol based on hardware-based fingerprints Collaborate and create synergy with Other Subprojects Be available to dedicate 10 hours per week during academic semesters and summer for research.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
: Enrolled in Cal Poly Pomona STEM majors and have interest in Cybersecurity for industrial IoT. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, and deliver professional research presentations. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with others. Ability to quickly read, understand, and synthesize theoretical conference and journal papers.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
Hands-on experience with hardware components such as Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC), Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC), Floating-Point Unit (FPU), Real-Time Clock (RTC), Static Random-Access Memory (SRAM), etc.
