Job Description

Job Description As a member of Trinity College's Grants Office, the Director of Fellowships will oversee graduate fellowships for the College with the key goals of raising the profile of fellowships on campus and increasing applicant success rates. The experienced professional will promote fellowship opportunities; conduct outreach to faculty, staff, and students to identify/recruit eligible students; hold workshops; and support students throughout their application process. The Director's portfolio will also include selected institutional and scholarship grants to support the College's programmatic initiatives and priorities. They will write and assemble reports to funders on the progress and impact of grants. Responsibilities Expand fellowship seeking among Trinity students. This will include, but not be limited to, promoting fellowship opportunities throughout the College community ensuring that faculty, advisors, staff, and students are aware of fellowship opportunities and students see fellowships as attainable options. The director will provide consistent outreach and presentations to different campus audiences Provide individual advising to undergraduate students and recent graduates to help them identify and apply for fellowships that are consistent with their goals. Organize and communicate the internal process, including timelines, to eligible students Provide workshops for students on common elements of fellowship proposals including developing personal statements, identifying right fit fellowships, and the application process and logistics. Set up internal competitions and mock interviews, as needed, working with faculty panels. Create a pool of alumni to participate in this process. Participate in professional development through the National Association of Fellowship Advisors (NAFA) and other networks to continue professional growth and stay current in the field. Monitor student-level and office-level outcomes. Prepare an annual report on fellowship activity and write content for newsletter. Write, review, and edit proposals, budgets, letters of inquiry, acknowledgement letters, and reports. Primary focus is on scholarships/financial aid awards but assistance on a broad range of other projects (science, arts, humanities, education, community initiatives, capital initiatives, etc.). Serve as campus liaison for the Davis UWC Scholars Program and partner with Admissions and Global Engagement Office to complete required reporting and address student questions. Perform other related duties as assigned and based on departmental need. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree, required Master's Degree, preferred 1-3 years of experience, required 3-5 years of experience, preferred Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of prestigious graduate fellowships and ability to support students to increase their likelihood of success. Drive and creativity to introduce new approaches to recruit students for fellowships. Experience conducting workshops for students. Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to balance multiple competing priorities. Demonstrated ability to write progress reports. Facility with data tracking and reporting. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic portals for grants and fellowships. Highly motivated to learn and grow professionally, individually, and as a member of the Grants Office.
