Technical/Research Designer (Biological Science) Florida State University - 4.3 Tallahassee, FL Job Details Full-time 16 hours ago Qualifications Boiler HVAC system maintenance Electrical systems Full Job Description Department Department of Biological Science | College of Arts and Sciences Responsibilities The Technical/Research Designer is dedicated to the support of Mechanical Engineering needs in the Department of Biological Science.
Responsibilities include:
Analyzing, investigating and diagnosing problems for complex instruments and systems such as thermos recyclers, UV-spectrophotometers, incubators, ultrafreezers, ultracentrifuges, micromanipulators, cryostats, autoclaves, microscope and optical systems. Repairing, maintaining, and modifying as needed. Assisting in upgrades, high-level maintenance, calibration, and repair of complex electronic instruments and equipment. Assisting with installation of new or modified equipment, as needed. Performing regular preventative maintenance on autoclaves and all pertinent biological science equipment necessary. Working within approved reporting structure of the department to report building issues and assists facilities managers in tracking progress. Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience. (

post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.) Preferred Qualifications Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to interpret, conceptualize, design, and modify equipment to meet specialized requirements. Ability to utilize blueprints and specifications. Ability to utilize technical skills. Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
