Reagent Development Scientist I 📍 Norcross, GA Now Actively Screening Candidates - Join a Growing Medical Device Team If you are interested, please email me directly at marjones@actalentservices.com. About the Role We are seeking a hands-on, results-driven Reagent Development Scientist I to join a collaborative team focused on developing, optimizing, and validating blood banking reagents within a medical device environment. In this role, you will play a key part in formulation and characterization —including analytical and performance testing—while leveraging strong critical thinking skills to troubleshoot experiments and recommend next steps . You'll partner closely with scientists and cross-functional teams, contributing to process scalability and supporting design transfer into manufacturing operations . Key Responsibilities Execute laboratory studies supporting the development and manufacture of new and existing reagent formulations Follow departmental procedures and supervisory guidance to ensure compliance and consistency Complete assigned tasks within defined timelines Contribute to the development of: Departmental procedures Quality plans Device master records Work instructions for qualification/validation studies supporting design transfer Support special projects and validation activities as needed Participate in training initiatives and support skill development of team members Perform administrative duties to support daily lab operations Assist in procuring raw materials and components required for study execution Contribute to forecasting future equipment and capital needs Participate in internal audit processes Ensure accurate, legible documentation in accordance with established procedures and timelines Maintain compliance with OSHA laboratory regulations (chemical safety, blood-borne pathogens, etc.) Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA) in Chemistry or Biology 1-2 years of relevant lab experience , including general lab work or undergraduate research Preferred Qualifications Experience working with blood banking reagents Exposure to IVD (In Vitro Diagnostics) development Technical Skills & Capabilities Experience with or willingness to learn: Bench and pilot-scale reagent formulation ELISA assays Blood analysis (hematology analyzers, etc.) Spectrophotometry (absorbance testing) Automated and manual blood typing Strong understanding of experimental design involving antibodies and red blood cells Highly detail-oriented with strong documentation practices Ability to troubleshoot experiments and adapt quickly in an agile environment Strong analytical skills with the ability to: Define problems Collect and interpret data Draw conclusions and recommend next steps Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts Ability to present findings and insights to management Experience training others on processes is a plus Additional Requirements Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally Why This Opportunity? Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
