Phenotyping Specialist#26-06049
Johnston, IA
All On-site Job Description Phenotyping Specialist You will be a key contributor to a variety of activities at Johnston Research Center. You will play a key role in supporting the Phenotyping/Field Trial functional team along with overall multicrop/multifunctional responsibilities. Responsibilities -
What You'll Do:
- Participate as a multicrop/multifunction team member for all SPD, Biotech, and other functional accountability. Detailed in Corn, Soy, Wheat, Cropping Systems, etc...
- Operator research equipment for planting and harvesting.
- Able to scout fields, focusing on agronomy pests and diseases.
- Able to work with team members in driving regional scouting teams.
- Be able to communicate effectively with all team members/stakeholders to understand both agronomic deadlines and other functional groups' deadlines.
- Work across Johnston team functions to support other activities at the site/along with support of other assigned research projects.
- Assist with research center projects and research seed production activities, including seed preparation for planting, winter nursery deadlines, and other overall support for the research center to be successful. These are critical times for the success of the research program, so weekend work and overtime may be required during peak period (April/May, Sept/Oct)
- Willingness to manage other employees, interns and assistants.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and respectful work environment
- Shipping support until planting and after harvest
- Regulated Trial support (estimated 10%) Qualifications Experience in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, or experience with a research seed company
Technologically Savvy:
Competency with standard Microsoft Office programs and the capacity to learn new technologies and software. Handling large volumes of data will be required.Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work well with diverse groups of people.Results Driven:

Able to learn and drive research combine, tractor, and planter Physical Requirements - What You Will Need- Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds.
- Willingness to work in varying environmental and ergonomic conditions including field work, etc...
- Willing and able to work a flexible schedule including overtime hours and weekend work required during seasonal peaks if needed/applicable.
- Able to stay overnight during peak periods.
- Driver's License, acceptable driving record, CMV (pulling pickup bumper hitch/gooseneck trailers Timeline - March 23rd to December 1st Not Temp To Hire
