  • Spatial Omics & Molecular Biology (RA) The RA will have the ability to train and work on cutting edge single cell and spatial
  • omics technologies, next generation sequencing assays, and histology in an exceptional environment.
No prior experience in single cell/spatial assays required. Wet lab experience and training in good laboratory practices are considered essential . Experience in working with tissue (cryostat/microtome), as well as library preparations (NGS) are considered as desired. Spatial Technologies, including Spatial Transcriptomics and Proteomics, were deemed " Method of the Year 2020 " by Nature Methods Journal and are currently revolutionizing biomedical research. The Spatial Technologies Unit is a reference center for the provision and advancement of single cell and spatial tissue profiling, and a focal point for Spatial Technologies research and development in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and across the United States. Job Description:
You will have an exceptional opportunity to join our highly-skilled team as a Research Assistant in an exceptional environment for scientific growth. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for applying modern molecular and histology techniques, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and automated single cell technology under the guidance of Senior Scientists, to support leading research projects related to Spatial Technologies such as spatial transcriptomics, highly multiplexed single cell and Super-Resolution imaging.
Essential Responsibilities:
Performs routine and non-routine laboratory tests which may include next generation sequencing, in situ hybridization, single cell assays, and spatial tissue profiling assays; synthesizes and interprets results. Sections paraffin embedded or frozen tissue using a microtome or cryostat, respectively May operate and maintain moderate to complex lab equipment. Manage the administrative tasks of the lab including requisition, inventory maintenance, and consultation scheduling. Oversee sample archives and performs routine QC for different samples types; Oversee and coordinate instrument maintenance, updates and repairs; Assist in developing and update SOPs and implementing new protocols and procedures. Using analytical abilities and sound judgment, makes decisions regarding the reliability and accuracy of results, repeating procedures when necessary. May assist with planning specific research procedures and coordinating schedules of tests and procedures May prepare written and/or verbal reports on status of research and the technical procedures used, including statistical and graphic summaries of findings and possible conclusions.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or related scientific field required Basic wet-lab experience: pipette handling, buffer preparation, good laboratory practices. 0-4 Years Related Work Experience Required. Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access. Useful Experience (not required but will be evaluated) Reagent preparation (solution, buffer and medium), DNA/RNA extraction and purification from tissues or cells, PCR/qPCR and molecular cloning. Working with RNA Tissue sectioning, paraffin-embedded / frozen Immunohistochemistry on animal or human samples, cell cytometry and sorting.

Ability to understand spoken English in order to follow basic safety instructions and take direction from supervisors; communicate effectively in basic English with patients, families and medical center staff in response to routine questions.
Knowledge:
Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use them in routine situations. Specialized knowledge not required.
