The School of Education at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) invites applicants for a one-year, full-time, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning in August 2026 with requirements to be physically present on the Hattiesburg campus. We aim to recruit applicants who will emphasize training students to become productive and thoughtful researchers and practitioners in multiple program areas. This position will support the rapid growth in the school, primarily in the graduate Educational Administration and the Educational Statistics and Research programs. These programs within the School of Education include M.S., Ed.
S, Ed.
D., and Ph.D. degrees. Courses include face-to-face, online, and hybrid delivery formats. Qualified applicants will be prepared to contribute to the mission of the School of Education at the graduate level. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Teaching and mentoring graduate students in research classes across programs.
Contributing to the mission of the university and profession through service activities.
Performing other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
A Ph.D. degree in Educational Research or closely related field (by August 2026). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate, concise and quality communication (verbal and written) in a timely manner to a everyone.
Experience setting clear performance expectations and provision of meaningful and timely feedback.
Experience and/or familiarity with technology use, particularly in the online learning environment. Preferred Qualifications
Interest, training or experience teaching graduate educational research courses.
Experience in program evaluation, institutional research, data-based decision making, foundations in statistics, and/or action research.
