The UNC Nutrition Research Institute (NRI) is a world-renowned center and a global leader in precision nutrition research. Our on-site facilities include multiple wet labs and clinical facilities as well as a vivarium and a metabolic chamber. The UNC Nutrition Research Institute ( NRI) is an internationally recognized center conducting innovative basic and translational science to establish how individual differences in nutrient requirements and responses to diet affect our nutritional needs. Our research contributes to the prevention and mitigation of chronic disease across the lifespan from periconception through aging. Our Mission is to lead precision nutrition research through understanding how genetics and environment affect an individual's requirements for and responses to nutrients. NRI principal investigators hold faculty appointments in the departments of Nutrition and Psychology at UNC Chapel Hill. Their research interrogates nutrient roles in disease prevention, disease risk factors, and the impact of gene-environment and gene-nutrient interactions. Position Summary Position Title:
Research Associate NOTE:
This position is located in Kannapolis, NC, appx. 2 hours from UNC's main campus. The Meyer Lab is seeking a Research Associate (RA) who will work on epidemiologic studies related to diet/nutrition, human metabolism, and cardiometabolic health outcomes. Job duties include epidemiologic, bioinformatic, and statistical analysis of data from population-based cohort, and/or smaller-scale clinical nutrition, studies. The RA will be responsible for producing publication-ready data displays and for writing up results for journal submission, including substantive literature review, coordination with co-authors, and formatting per journal requirements. The RA will meet regularly with the hiring PI, as well as with larger groups of research collaborators, including UNC-based and multi-center teams. Much of the collaborative work focuses on using multi-omics approaches for integrative analysis of high-dimensional data (e.g., proteomics, genomics, transcriptomics) in studies of cardiometabolic health outcomes. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Master's or Bachelor's and 0-2 years' experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
  • Qualified candidates should have completed a PhD in nutrition, epidemiology, or a closely related field.
  • Candidates must have expertise in nutrition or epidemiology.
  • Experience conducting statistical analysis in R for nutritional epidemiologic research, including population-based cohorts.
  • History of publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Ability to conduct analysis and writing tasks independently, and as part of a team.
