The selected candidate for the Research Scientist position will assist the PI and Co-PIs in the implementation of all research and education activities associated with the new Interdisciplinary Biomedical Engineering Core (IBEC) facility at NC A&T. In this role, the Research Scientist will operate and maintain high end analytical instrumentation in the IBEC, facilitate training of users on the instruments, and assist users with the development of experimental workflow.

The College is experiencing substantial growth in enrollment, faculty size, curricula, and research. The Department of Biology's core mission encompasses excellence in teaching, cutting-edge research, and meaningful service to both students and the broader community. The Department of Biology currently has 24 full-time faculty members to support the teaching and research needs of our undergraduate and graduate students. The undergraduate enrollment currently is over 835 Biology majors. The MS graduate enrollment averages 15 students, and we train PhD students as part of the AST program in Applied Bioscience with an enrollment of 30 PhD students.

Requirements:

A PhD in bioscience, genomics, biochemistry, or a related discipline.

Preferred:

5+ years of experience A background in genomics and analytical biochemistry A strong publication record in relevant fields

• Experience developing experimental workflows, conducting bioanalytical research, and training users.
