Salary:
$85,000+ (Commensurate with experience) Help drive innovation in research computing at Binghamton University! We're looking for a Research Computing Facilitator to join the Watson Computing team within the Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science. You'll work closely with faculty, staff, and students to help them harness high-performance computing (HPC), advanced data systems, and cutting-edge cyberinfrastructure to power their research.
Responsibilities:
Partner with researchers to solve technical challenges and improve workflows for computing-intensive and data-intensive projects Connect faculty, students, and staff to advanced research computing resources at BU and beyond, including national supercomputing centers Help design, optimize, and troubleshoot HPC, cloud, and storage workflows Provide training and outreach to grow BU's research computing community Explore new tools, partnerships, and opportunities to expand Watson's capabilities Support faculty in preparing grant proposals involving cyberinfrastructure
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in STEM or related field Practical experience with research computing (HPC, cloud, data-intensive workflows) Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with a diverse research community
Preferred:
Master's or Ph.D. in STEM or related discipline Python programming skills Demonstrated familiarity with AI/ML libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar tools commonly used in research computing Experience supporting research computing in an academic setting Familiarity with emerging computing paradigms, such as quantum computing, and their potential applications in research Familiarity with national HPC and cyberinfrastructure resources (ACCESS, DOE/NSF) Experience contributing to and/or writing grant proposals Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
